Roller Girl

Hey man, this is pretty cool. I'm not really convinced by the figure's proportions, but I think the overall color scheme you've got in the piece is nice, and the cityscape is weird and fun. Is this all gouache? It looks like some of it was digitally rendered, but I could be wrong.

I'm glad you took the time to paint the individual laces on the boots. Keep bringing that level of detail into your pieces and they'll continue to get stronger.

A couple criticisms:

-I think the lighting could be a little more cohesive. There's a few too many changes in light and temperature for the composition. I think that if the buildings had a hint of that pink that's in the sky and the figure, it would pull the piece together better.

-The jets and clouds could be spread out over the sky a bit more. The planes work in a line, because it makes sense that they'd fly in formation, but the clouds could be distributed a little more naturally.

-The rollergirl looks like an old woman, which is hilarious, but perhaps not the proper look.

That said, I'm totally down with pink skies. I'd like to see what you could do with a purely environmental space. Set design or a pure cityscape or whatever. Something to think about.
